Setting up your website template: Image Type SQ125 Step 1: EDIT FLASH ANIMATION: | Click for more details Open the "flash.txt" file with Notepad or any plain text editor and edit "Realty Company" with your name or company name. Be sure not to delete the "logo=". Edit the text following "&logo-FAQ=" with your FAQ popup logo text. This will update the Flash logo on all pages. Include about 6 or 7 spaces in front of your text so you do not overlap the Flash logo icon. For other options for this Flash logo see the options section below on this page. FLASH HEADER ICON: In the "picts" folder you can replace the "flash-icon.jpg" with any 50 x 50 .jpg image. Do not save this .jpg as a progressive image. You can optionally go wider with this image. If you do not want to use the Flash icon you can rename the "BLANK-flash-icon.jpg" in the picts folder to "flash-icon.jpg". THE HOMEPAGE FLASH IMAGE CHANGER: | Click for more details The animation on the index.html is showing 9 .jpg images. You will find these images in the "flash" folder. You can replace "image1.jpg" through "image9.jpg" with any standard .jpg images and the flash will update. Make your image sizes 125 wide x 125 pixels high. If you want to use other image sizes you can edit the "imagechanger.js" and also the "imagechanger.fla" in the flash folder with Flash software. Step 2: EDIT FOOTER: | Click for more details Open the "footer.js" file in Notepad or any text editor, and change the "Your Company" line with your company or website name. This will update the lower page info on all pages. Edit all ".js" files with a text editor. Step 3: EDIT CONTACT INFO: | Click for more details Open the "phone.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and change the company name, address, phone number and e-mail address. This will update contact info on the contact page. This is done as a javascript file so your e-mail will not be read by search engines and you'll receive less spam e-mail. Step 4: EDIT THE CONTACT FORM: | Click for more details Click for current info on setting up the template forms. Click for info on adding more fields to the forms. Click for changing form sizes or colors. If you want to use only e-mail on the contact page you can remove the contact form by deleting between the "REMOVE FORM" notes in the "contact.htm". Or... you can delete the "contact.htm", rename the "agents.htm" to "contact.htm" and remove the "agents" link in the "menu.js". Step 5: REPLACE THE FEATURED HOMES PICTURES: | Click for more details The best way to setup the pictures in the gallery is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the pictures in the "gallery" folder with your own by overwriting the files that are in there now and using the same generic names.
HOW THE IMAGES ARE NUMBERED: The first number is the "featured-homes-?.htm" page the thumbnail is on. The second number is the number on the page top to bottom. The third number is the view number. EXAMPLE: For the third image down on featured page 2 for view 5 edit these 2 images: "homes2-3-5.jpg" and the "Fhomes2-3-5.jpg". Step 6: EDIT THE FAQ PAGES: | Click for more details See your FAQ page for complete instructions. Step 7: EDIT THE MENUS AND DROPDOWN MENUS: | Menu Editing | Adding Pages This template includes horizontal CSS menus. You can edit the menus as you need and add and remove links and pages. You will edit the menu.js in a text editor to change the menu names and add items. Click for CSS horizontal menu help. Step 8: EDIT LEFT SIDEBAR: | Click for more details You will edit the "sidebar.htm" like any other HTML page. Editing the "sidebar.htm" will update all the pages at one time. If you need more height in the sidebar you can edit the "sidebar-frame" height style in the "corporatestyle.css". Step 9: SETUP THE MLS IDX HOME SEARCH: Click for MLS search setup info. Allwebco does not provide MLS search code or support. All MLS search forms included in this template are examples only. Step 10: SETUP THE HEADER SITE SEARCH: Click for site search setup info. To turn off the site search edit the "search.js" and edit the show search to "no". (also in your extras folder see the search-sample-code.txt for an example of the code from Google CSE). The optional search .js files for this template will be in your "extras" folder. Step 11: EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad Editing Edit the text on all HTML pages with your information. You can use a text editor like Notepad, Frontpage, Dreamweaver or any wysiwyg editor. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text. You will find notes inside each page to help you navigate. NOTE: You will not see the footer and header in some software because they are .js include files so you can globally edit your e-mail and other info. Step 12: EDIT TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS AND KEYWORDS: | Click for more details Open each of the pages and change the titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords with your product or service info. You can edit one page and copy and paste to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the "" so you don't disturb the html code. Page titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google or MSN and other search engines. Click for optimization help. Step 13: UPLOAD: | Click for more details Upload the pages on to your hosting company's server using ftp software or Windows Explorer or your control panel. Be sure to upload the "picts", "gallery" and "flash" folders and all files in these folders. Options: USING A GRAPHIC LOGO: You can replace the Flash logo with a graphic logo: Delete or rename the "header.js", then rename the "graphic_logo_header.js" to "header.js". In the picts folder you will find a graphic called "logo.jpg". Edit this graphic with your logo. The "logo.jpg" is now 50 pixels high. You can make this image any size height you would like. It is best to keep this logo 500 pixels wide or less. The background color for the graphic logo header can be edited in the header.js. LEFT SIDE LOGO: The logo and image on the LEFT side is located in the picts folder and is named "sidebar-logo.jpg". Edit this image with your parent company logo and/or your own image. The page that displays this image is the "sidebar.htm". FONTS & CSS code: | Click for more details You can change your font colors and sizes, background colors and borders by editing the "corporatestyle.css" with a text editor. Change the "TABLE" px size to change the copy on all pages. Change the "title" px size to change all the title sizes. Click here for info on menu fonts and colors. PAGE COLOR BARS: | Click for more details Each page has a colored bar just under the header. Some pages use the same color code for this color. Edit these colors in your "corporatestyle.css". See the "IMAGE TABLE AND COLOR BARS" section in this file to edit those. CHANGING / ADDING MENU BUTTONS: See the "EDIT THE MENUS AND DROPDOWN MENUS" section above. FEATURED HOMES MENU: | Click for more details The "menu_featured.js" is used only on the featured homes gallery pages. See the notes inside this file to add more gallery links. THE EXTRA menu_right.js: | Click for more details The "menu_right.js" is used on all pages that include a right sidebar area. This menu includes some extra links for the right area if you need them. You can edit the "menu_right.js" and change the "var showlink" to a yes to show these extra links. SPACING ABOVE THE RIGHT SIDEBAR | Click for more details The "menu_right.js" includes global top spacing for placement of images on the right. You can edit the "var spacing" in this file from "55" to other numbers to move the right area up or down. PICTURES: | Click for more details You can replace the pictures with your own. The pictures are now 125 x 125 pixels in the header area and 150 x 125 in the right sidebar area. You can use any size picture you want and the pages will size them to fit automatically. Some pages use their own set of pictures which are named according to the page they're on. All other images on pages will be the "global-?.jpg" images. The "global-?.jpg" images are used on pages that do not have their own set of images. You will find all pictures in the "picts" folder. ADDING PAGES: | Click for more details You can add pages to your website by copying and pasting any one of the pages and renaming it to whatever you need. You can then add links from the other pages or even add the page to the menu by opening the menu.js and copying and pasting one of the buttons below another. SITE MAP PAGE: The "site_map.htm" is linked from the index.html. It is best not to remove this link so search engines can find your site map and properly list all your pages when users search at major search engines. PAGE HEIGHTS: So all your pages will maintain a standard height, page heights are set in the "corporatestyle.css". You can edit the ".sidebar-frame" class in the "SIDEBAR OPTIONS" section to change the height. This will increase the sidebar IFrame height. FOOTER W3C LOGO: The image in the template footer is a W3C HTML validation logo. The unedited template pages are all W3C valid. If you want to display this logo you can use the W3C HTML Validator to check your pages after you edit them. You can also turn this logo off in the "footer.js" or edit the link in the "footer.js" and replace the "w3c.gif" in the picts folder with your own image. OPTIONAL FLASH LOGO: In the "extras" folder you will find an "OPTIONAL-logo.swf" and "OPTIONAL-faqlogo.swf". These are Flash header logos with a different font style. To use these, delete or rename the .swf files in the main template folder, then copy the OPTIONAL logos into the main folder and rename them to "logo.swf" and "faqlogo.swf". EXTRAS FOLDER FILES: The files in the extras folder are optional files. You can use any of these files as indicated elsewhere on this help page and related support pages. This folder does not need to be uploaded to your hosting area. |
